Student EnrichmentArt ExhibitChildren’s artwork viewed during Open House in May 2011 Bilingual BuddiesHelp families connect to school community. Initiate contact with assigned family. Answer questions, inform them of/explain school and class events, help fill out forms. Bulletin BoardsThe main bulletin board in front of the office is updated with important PTA and School notices each month. DirectoryA student directory is provided for all Las Lomitas District families by the PTA. Food for ThoughtEach classroom has healthy snacks to ensure all children have energy to fully engage in activities. Fun FridaysPlayground games during Friday lunch recess. A fun way to interact with the kids! Green TeamLas Lomitas Green Team began in 2008 to encourage and promote environmental awareness through programs for families and students. Past activities included reusable water-bottle sales, Car-Free Wednesday challenge, Trash-free lunch month, and tips and tricks for green living at home. Our current activities are focused on school-wide lunchtime composting and recycling, as well as a Bike Rally and Bike Safety program Health ServicesParent volunteers staff the nurse’s office during lunchtime. No medical experience needed. Hot Lunch ProgramLas Lomitas PTA uses a company called Choicelunch to provide hot and cold lunch options 5 days a week. Visit the Hot Lunch page to find out more.Holiday WorkshopThe Holiday Workshop is a hands-on craft faire in which all Las Lomitas students participate to create gifts for family and friends in December. It is run 100% by parent volunteers and considered by most parents to be their favorite day of the year! HospitalityRefreshments for various PTA activities and school functions. Junior Great BooksTrained parent volunteers read aloud and lead discussions. Program is for 3rd Graders only Math ThursdaysA fun lunchtime activity, parents help run Math games during Thursday lunch recess. A great way to interact with the kids. Picture DayHelp kids look their best for photos :) Science WondersA K-3rd grade version of a science fair Young Authors Parent volunteers type, bind and laminate stories and books that have been written by the students. |
