Las Lomitas Read-A-Thon

The Las Lomitas Read-A-Thon is a school-wide program that encourages students and their families to read outside of school. Students collect pledges from sponsors for all minutes read at home during the Read-A-Thon. Funds raised by the program support student enrichment activities, community building events and special needs such as new playground equipment.

This year the Read-A-Thon will take place from Monday, January 9th to Sunday, February 5th.

Report Weekly Minutes - Use this form to submit the number of minutes your child read last week. The school-wide goal for the four-week Read-A-Thon is 400,000 minutes!

Book Reviews - Recommendations from Las Lomitas students.

Reading Recommendations - The following reading recommendations are from Sharon Kelly, Las Lomitas librarian. All of these books are available in the lobby of the library.

  • Picture Books
  • Easy Readers
  • Chapter Books
  • Story Collections

  • Download the Read-A-Thon Packet - This is a copy of the packet sent home in the Monday envelope on January 9th. The Read-A-Thon packet contains:

  • Sponsor Pledge Sheet to collect sponsors
  • Calendar Tally Sheet to track reading time
  • Reading Resource List to give you ideas to make reading at home fun!
  • Weekly Reporting Form to submit minutes read at the end of each week

  • Students are not required to secure sponsors in order to participate. We hope the Read-A-Thon inspires all students to READ, READ, READ! The school-wide goal is to read 400,000 minutes!
